About Zatokrev

Zatokrev are a Swiss sludge and post-metal band known for their immersive heaviness, hypnotic repetition and emotionally charged intensity. Formed in Basel, the band craft expansive compositions built on crushing riffs, ritualistic rhythms and moments of stark atmosphere, balancing brute force with brooding restraint. Their sound draws from doom, sludge and post-metal traditions while remaining deeply personal and expressive, creating music that feels both physical and introspective.

Since their formation, Zatokrev have developed a distinctive catalogue that charts their evolving approach to heaviness. Their self-titled debut Zatokrev (2004) was followed by Bury the Ashes (2006) and The Bat, the Wheel and a Long Road to Nowhere (2012), each release deepening their sense of scale and emotional weight. Later albums including Silk Spiders Underwater (2015), Zatokrev (2018), Bigod (2018) and Bring Mirrors to the Surface (2025) further cement their reputation for uncompromising, atmospheric songwriting.
