Utah Saints are a pioneering British electronic duo formed in Leeds in 1991, consisting of Jez Willis and Tim Garbutt. They gained prominence in the early 1990s for their innovative use of sampling, blending elements of house, big beat, hip hop, and trance. Their debut album, Utah Saints (1992), included hits like “Something Good,” which famously sampled Kate Bush’s “Cloudbusting”.
Their second album, Two (2000), featured collaborations with artists such as Michael Stipe and Chuck D. The album showcased their evolving sound, incorporating a mix of electronic styles and guest vocals. Despite facing challenges in the music industry, including being dropped from their label, Utah Saints continued to influence the electronic music scene with their distinctive approach to production and sampling.
