Underscores is a genre-defying American DJ and producer, blending hyper-pop, dubstep, electronic and more.  

After years of 'noodling' about on GarageBand and uploading one-off songs to Soundcloud, 2021 saw the arrival of Underscores' debut album, fishmonger, which was written and recorded in her childhood bedroom during the Covid pandemic. fishmonger set the stage for Underscores' unique production style, as the record incorporates an eclectic blend of hyper-pop with dubstep, emo, and alt-rock. 

fishmonger saw Underscores rise from recording vocals in her car to opening for foundational hyper-pop duo 100 gecs in the United States. Since then, she has played sold-out shows in her hometown of San Francisco, as well as Lollapalooza's Main Stage, Electric Forest, and Corona Capital CDMX. 

Her chaotic, maximalist sound is also found on her 2023 album Wallsocket, a conceptual, narrative-driven offering that leans heavily into pop, whilst incorporating folk, trap, and shoegaze influences. 2026's U has received critical acclaim, described by Pitchfork as a 'stuttering, pixelated coda'. 

Having collaborated with other pioneering figures of the modern electronic scene, such as Oklou and Ninajirachi, Underscores is carving out a niche space for hyper-pop maximalism with chaotic production and heartfelt song-writing.
