Since forming in Blacktown in Sydney's west, Thy Art Is Murder have become one of the heaviest bands Australia has ever produced. Their second album, Hate (2012), made history as the first extreme metal record to break into the Top 40 of the ARIA Albums Chart. The momentum didn't let up from there. Holy War (2015) and Dear Desolation (2017) both charted on the US Billboard 200, followed by Human Target (2019) and Godlike (2023), which came out on the band's own Human Warfare label.
In 2026 the band welcomed vocalist Jerry Grimefeld, a familiar face on Australia's heavy music and hip-hop circuits. He made his recorded debut with the creepy, carnival-tinged single "Squeeze", but he'd already proved himself on stage. That summer, the band headlined the Friday of Manchester's Radar Festival at O2 Victoria Warehouse and left the crowd battered, sweaty and wanting more. Expect relentless riffs, monstrous gutturals and a pit that won't stop moving from start to finish.
