Formed in Aberdeen in 2001 and later settling in Brighton, The Xcerts have spent more than two decades building a reputation as one of the UK's most big-hearted alternative rock bands. The trio – vocalist and guitarist Murray Macleod, bassist Jordan Smith and drummer Tom Heron – pair loud, distorted riffs with the kind of soaring, emotionally honest choruses that have long drawn comparisons to the likes of Biffy Clyro. From debut In The Cold Wind We Smile (2009) through There Is Only You (2014) and Learning How to Live and Let Go (2023), they've never been content to simply repeat themselves, following their hearts from one record to the next.
Along the way they've supported Brand New, Taking Back Sunday and Biffy Clyro, and played festivals including Reading, 2000 Trees and Live at Leeds. Their sixth studio album, i think i want to go home now. (2026), was written by all three in a room together and recorded with Larry Hibbitt at Beehive Studios – a raw, defiant record that turns genuine heartbreak into some of their most cathartic songs yet. Live, it's that mix of vulnerability and full-throated release that keeps fans coming back.
