Stereo MCs is a British hip-hop and electronic music group formed in 1985, best known for their innovative fusion of rap, funk, and electronic sounds. Hailing from London, the group originally consisted of founding members Rob Birch and Nick Hallam, along with singer and songwriter Cath Coffey. They gained international recognition in the early 1990s with their infectious rhythms and catchy hooks.
Their breakthrough album, Connected, released in 1992, featured the hit singles "Connected" and "Step It Up," which showcased their distinctive sound that blends catchy melodies with clever lyrics. The album received widespread acclaim and was a commercial success, solidifying their place in the music scene during the era of alternative hip-hop.
