SOAK is the project of Derry singer-songwriter Bridie Monds-Watson, who began writing songs aged 14 and landed on the BBC Sound of 2015 longlist before releasing their debut album Before We Forgot How to Dream (2015) on Rough Trade. The record earned a Mercury Prize nomination, making SOAK one of the award's youngest ever nominees, and went on to win both the Choice Music Prize and the Northern Ireland Music Prize. Those early years on the road also brought a Glastonbury appearance and tours with CHVRCHES and Tegan and Sara.
SOAK has kept evolving ever since, from the ambitious Grim Town (2019) to the riff-led, mid-90s indie spirit of If I Never Know You Like This Again (2022). They also featured on Fred again..'s "just stand there" (2024), a collaboration played more than 25 million times, and returned with the tender single "death valley fridge magnet" (2026). Along the way, they've played a sold-out Royal Festival Hall supporting Pulp. Friendship, family and a deep sense of home run through their songs, carried by that lilting voice and a real gift for turning small moments into something that stays with you.
