Skunk Anansie is a British rock band formed in 1994, known for their powerful blend of alternative rock, punk, and metal, as well as their socially conscious lyrics. The band consists of lead vocalist Skin (Deborah Dyer), guitarist Ace (Martin Kent), bassist Cass (Richard Lewis), and drummer Mark Richardson. Skunk Anansie gained prominence during the mid-1990s, standing out with their bold sound and Skin's dynamic stage presence.
Their debut album, Paranoid & Sunburnt (1995), featured hits like "Weak" and "Charity," establishing the band's reputation for addressing political and social issues in their music. The follow-up albums, Stoosh (1996) and Post Orgasmic Chill (1999), further cemented their place in the rock scene.
Skunk Anansie took a hiatus in 2001 but reunited in 2009, releasing several more albums, including Wonderlustre (2010) and Anarchytecture (2016). With their mix of aggression, vulnerability, and activism, they remain one of the most influential rock bands to emerge from the UK in the 1990s, consistently drawing large crowds and critical acclaim for their live performances.
