About Rialto

Too stylish to fit neatly into Britpop, Rialto rose from the ashes of Kinky Machine in the late ’90s with a sound that paired the era's big melodies with the drama of classic film scores, French chanson and ’60s pop. Their debut album Rialto (1998) gave us the much-loved singles "Monday Morning 5:19" and "Untouchable", and the band built a devoted cult following in the UK before releasing Night on Earth (2001) and going their separate ways. Frontman Louis Eliot went on to make solo records, help run Cornwall's Port Eliot Festival and tour the world in Grace Jones's band.

Rialto reformed in 2023, playing the Shiiine On Weekender before releasing Neon & Ghost Signs (2025), their first album in 24 years. A late-night wander through London's clubs, bars and bruised romances, it adds disco, glam and Bowie-esque funk to the band's trademark melancholy, and earned four-star reviews from the likes of Uncut, Mojo and Record Collector. Along the way they've supported Supergrass and Sleeper and headlined London's Scala, proving their elegant, after-dark sound still lands just as well on stage.
