Dearborn’s explosive noise-rock collective, merging anarchic post-punk fury with Middle Eastern textures and incendiary, theatrical live shows.
Prostitute are a fiery noise-rock quintet from Dearborn, Michigan, formed amid the isolation of the COVID-19 lockdown as the experimental post-punk project of frontman Moe Kazra. He enlisted childhood friends Andrew Kaster (drums), Dylan Zaranski (bass), plus Ross Babinski (guitar) and Bret Wall to complete the lineup, using samples, synths, distorted guitars and industrial textures to craft a sound as hypnotic as it is chaotic. Their self-released debut album, Attempted Martyr (2024), is a nightmarish concept journey following a zealot’s spiral into violence, obsession and collapse—“disturbingly poetic” lyrics that pack a visceral punch, as described by critics who likened it to being “run over by a truck” in its sheer intensity.
Their stage presence is equally electric—live shows have been called dangerously volatile, with Moe delivering incendiary, sermon-like vocals over a cacophony of pounding drums, corrosive riffs and fractured FX. Prostitute have already built underground buzz with performances at Detroit’s iconic UFO Bar reopening, benefit gigs for Palestine, Lebanon and Sudan, and appearances at No Rest Fest and New Colossus Festival.
