Peatbog Faeries are a genre-defying Scottish band originating from the Isle of Skye, formed in 1991 and now based in Dunvegan. Their music fuses the deep traditions of Celtic folk—bagpipes, fiddles and whistles—with pulsing electronica, world-rhythms and dance-floor grooves. Their debut album Mellowosity (1996) marked a bold entry into Celtic-fusion territory, drawing on reggae, afrobeat and jazz influences layered over traditional melodies.
Across a rich catalogue that includes albums like Faerie Stories (2000), Croftwork (2005) and Blackhouse (2016), the Peatbog Faeries have consistently pushed musical boundaries. Known for their electrifying live presence, the band have twice won “Live Band of the Year” at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards and have performed at major UK festivals as well as touring internationally. Their performance style merges traditional instruments and wild experimental soundscapes, creating shows that are immersive, high-energy and unmistakably celebratory.
