Paula Cole is an American singer-songwriter who became one of the defining voices of the 1990s. Her second album, This Fire (1996), which she wrote and produced herself, made her the first woman to be solely nominated for the Grammy Award for Producer of the Year, and she went on to win Best New Artist. Blending pop, rock, folk and jazz, the record produced two of the decade's most memorable singles: "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?" and "I Don't Want to Wait", the latter reaching a whole new audience as the theme to Dawson's Creek.

Cole's music has always paired fearless, confessional writing with a voice capable of real power and tenderness. She first arrived with her debut album Harbinger (1994) and has collaborated with artists including Peter Gabriel, joining him on the song "Hush, Hush, Hush". On stage she brings the same emotional honesty that runs through her records, delivering an intimate, deeply felt live experience from an artist who has never stopped writing on her own terms.
