Nortec: Bostich + Fussible is the innovative Mexican electronic duo comprised of Bostich (Ramón Amezcua) and Fussible (Pepe Mogt), hailing from Tijuana, Baja California. They emerged from the early-2000s collective known as the Nortec Collective and are widely credited with inventing the “nortec” sound—melding the traditional Mexican norteño and banda styles (with tubas, accordions and tambora drums) with techno beats, electronic production and dance-floor energy. Their breakthrough album Tijuana Sound Machine (2008) under the name “Nortec Collective Presents Bostich + Fussible” earned them a Grammy nomination and helped carry their music far beyond the Mexico-US border.
Over more than twenty years, the duo have taken their hybrid sound from Tijuana to the world—performing at festivals such as Coachella, Glasgow Green Live (via the UK circuit) and others, while also collaborating with artists like Beck and lending their aesthetic to film and visual art. With their live shows combining electronic rigs and live brass/tuba sections, Bostich + Fussible make something that’s both a club experience and a cultural statement—celebrating a border-city identity and pushing electronic music in new directions.
