Growing up in a musical family in Centralia, Washington, Noah Gundersen was playing local cafés as a teenager, often with his sister Abby beside him on violin and harmonies. His 2011 EP Family proved a breakthrough, with its title track landing on Sons of Anarchy, and he later earned an Emmy nomination for "Day Is Gone", a song he co-wrote for the show. His debut album Ledges (2014) set out his stall with hushed, heartfelt folk, and he hasn't stood still since. His records have moved from the big electric sweep of White Noise (2017) to the intimacy of Lover (2019) and A Pillar of Salt (2021), which features a duet with Phoebe Bridgers on "Atlantis", followed by If This Is the End (2023) and Rites of Spring (2026).
Whatever the sound, his songs about love, loss, faith and hope always come from a deeply personal place, and that honesty is what makes his live shows so special. He has shared stages with Emmylou Harris, Beck, City and Colour and Josh Ritter. UK fans have caught him everywhere from The Borderline and Leeds' Brudenell Social Club to London's Union Chapel, a venue he has returned to again and again.
