About Nik Kershaw

Nik Kershaw burst onto the UK pop scene in (1984), quickly establishing himself as one of the era’s most distinctive voices. A run of global hit singles — including “Wouldn’t It Be Good”, “The Riddle” and his biggest hit, “I Won’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” — cemented his place in pop history, earning him an extraordinary 62 weeks on the UK Singles Chart across (1984) and (1985). His success was capped by a performance at Live Aid, confirming his status as a defining artist of the decade with a sound that balanced polished pop hooks and emotional depth.

After stepping back from the spotlight, Kershaw focused on songwriting and production, building an equally impressive career behind the scenes. He wrote Chesney Hawkes’ chart-topping “The One and Only” and has collaborated with artists including Elton John, Sia, Gary Barlow and Bonnie Tyler, while continuing to release his own well-regarded studio albums. Across every phase of his career, his work is marked by a distinctive voice, melodic sophistication and lyrics that remain deeply personal and resonant.
