About Murkage Dave

Born and raised in Leytonstone, Murkage Dave is a singer, songwriter and cultural observer whose music captures the rhythm of British life with warmth and wit. Growing up surrounded by garage and R&B, he later moved to Manchester, where the sounds of The Smiths and Joy Division added new depth to his creative identity. This mix of influences has shaped a distinctly British sound – one that blends soulful melodies with sharp, honest lyricism.

Across a run of acclaimed releases, Murkage Dave has built a reputation for storytelling that feels both intimate and universal. He’s collaborated with artists as varied as Caroline Polachek, Tricky, Mike Skinner, Evidence, AC Slater, Jaykae, Skepta and Nekfeu, earning praise from Pharrell Williams, Iggy Pop, Young Fathers and major outlets including Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, The Fader, Complex, The Guardian, The Face and BBC Radio 1. A true voice of modern Britain, Dave’s music finds beauty in the everyday and emotion in the overlooked.
