Metric are a Canadian indie rock band formed in Toronto, fronted by vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Emily Haines alongside guitarist James Shaw, bassist Josh Winstead and drummer Joules Scott-Key. Since emerging in the early 2000s, the band have built an international following with their distinctive blend of indie-rock, new wave and synth-pop.
Across a career spanning more than two decades, Metric have released a string of acclaimed albums, including Live It Out (2005), Fantasies (2009), Synthetica (2012) and Formentera (2022). Renowned for songs such as “Help I'm Alive”, “Gold Guns Girls”, “Black Sheep” and “Breathing Underwater”, the band have become a defining force in modern alternative music.
