About Lael Neale

Lael Neale is a Virginia-born singer-songwriter whose minimalist, lo-fi songs turn the everyday into something quietly extraordinary. Raised on a farm in rural Virginia, she carried its high-lonesome sound west to Los Angeles, and after discovering the Omnichord in 2019 she found the hushed, hand-made style that defines her work. Recorded at home with longtime collaborator Guy Blakeslee, her music draws on the Transcendentalists and an eclectic sweep of influences, from Dionne Warwick and John Lennon to primitive American gospel and Spacemen 3.

Her Sub Pop debut Acquainted With Night (2021) won international acclaim for its crystalline vocals and clever songwriting. Star Eaters Delight (2023), a meditation on Los Angeles and its consumer culture, led to sold-out shows in London, Paris, New York and Los Angeles, plus a West Coast run supporting Weyes Blood. Her fourth album, Altogether Stranger (2025), packs nine songs into just 32 minutes, roaming from garage-rock nursery rhymes to Motorik grooves and solitary Omnichord meditations. It brought a sold-out UK tour and support slots with Beach House, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio and Cass McCombs.
