Norwegian indie-folk duo Kings of Convenience are renowned for their delicate acoustic sound, intricate harmonies and beautifully understated songwriting.
Formed in Bergen by childhood friends Eirik Glambek Bøe and Erlend Øye, Kings of Convenience first emerged with their acclaimed debut album Quiet Is The New Loud (2001), helping define a new wave of intimate acoustic music with hushed vocals, intricate guitar work and heartfelt lyricism. They followed with Riot on an Empty Street (2004), Declaration of Dependence (2009) and the long-awaited Peace or Love (2021), each release blending folk, pop, bossa nova and jazz influences into a sound that feels both timeless and deeply personal.
Known for their warm, conversational live shows and effortless musical chemistry, Kings of Convenience have built a devoted global following across more than two decades. Alongside the duo, both musicians have explored acclaimed solo projects and collaborations, but it’s their work together that continues to resonate most — pairing emotional honesty, subtle humour and elegant simplicity in a way few artists can match.
