Punk musician, journalist and writer John Robb first came to prominence as bassist of the Blackpool-based post-punk band The Membranes, a group celebrated for their fierce, experimental approach to music. In 1995, he went on to form punk rock band Goldblade, further establishing his reputation as a restless and passionate force in the UK punk scene. Known for his energetic performances and uncompromising musical vision, Robb has remained a vital voice in alternative music for decades.
Alongside his musical career, Robb is a prolific writer and cultural commentator. He founded the independent online music magazine Louder Than War and has authored numerous books exploring music and subcultures, including The Art of Darkness: The History of Goth and Do You Believe in the Power of Rock & Roll?: Forty Years of Music Writing from the Frontline. Through his work, Robb continues to champion underground music and shine a light on the artists and movements shaping contemporary culture.
