Jen Brister was born in Kingston upon Thames in 1975 and built her stage voice from the rich blend of her British father’s and Spanish mother’s roots. After studying drama at Middlesex University, she began performing stand‐up in the mid-1990s and has since become a mainstay of UK and international comedy circuits. Her solo shows — from Me, My Mum & I to Meaningless and The Optimist — explore identity, family, feminism and modern life with razor-bright wit and emotional depth.
Brister has appeared on major TV shows including Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week and QI, and published her memoir The Other Mother in 2019, which tackles non-traditional parenthood with honesty and humour. Known for her explosive energy and incisive insight, Brister connects with audiences through both laughter and reflection, making her one of the UK’s most respected comedic voices.
