Formed in 2020 and based in South London, DEADLETTER comprise frontman Zac Lawrence (vocals), George Ullyott (bass), Poppy Richler (saxophone), Will King (guitar), James Bates (guitar) and Alfie Husband (drums). The band channel the acidic wit of Gang of Four and the angular rhythms of Talking Heads, injecting a distinctly danceable drive into socially-observant post-punk. Their singles “Binge” and “The Snitching Hour” showcase their razor-sharp grooves and layered, sax-fueled attack.
With their debut EP Heat! (2022) and full-length Hysterical Strength (2024), DEADLETTER continue to build a reputation for bold ideas, visceral energy and a refusal to sit still. Their sound is as cerebral as it is physical—a potent mix of art-punk flair and sweaty club rhythms. If you’re looking for a band that feels urgent, intelligent and alive, DEADLETTER are more than worthy of your attention.
