Cast is a British rock band that emerged in the mid-1990s as one of the leading figures in the Britpop movement. Formed in 1993 by former La’s guitarist John Power, Cast quickly gained attention for their melodic and guitar-driven sound, which drew comparisons to bands like The Beatles and Oasis. Alongside Power, the original lineup included Liam "Skin" Tyson, Peter Wilkinson, and Keith O'Neill, all of whom helped to shape the band's distinct sound.
The band’s debut album, All Change (1995), was a major commercial success, featuring hits like “Alright” and “Flying.” The album’s blend of catchy hooks, uplifting anthems, and energetic guitar work marked the group as a significant force within the Britpop scene. Their follow-up albums, Mother Nature Calls (1997) and Magic Hour (2000), continued to cement their place in the rock world, with tracks such as “Free Me” and “Walkaway” becoming fan favourites.
Known for their electrifying live performances, Cast has built a loyal fanbase over the years, and despite several breakups and lineup changes, the band continues to perform and release music. Their sound, which combines elements of rock, pop, and indie, remains timeless, with a lasting influence on the British rock scene. Cast's ability to produce anthemic, heartland rock and their commitment to delivering an energetic live show have ensured their place as a mainstay in the UK’s musical landscape.
