Andalusian collective fusing flamenco tradition with electronic and experimental music to create bold, future-facing sound worlds.
Califato 3/4 are an experimental collective from Andalusia, Spain, whose music reimagines traditional flamenco through a contemporary, genre-blurring lens. Blending elements of flamenco, electrónica, dub, hip-hop and post-rock, they create a sound that is rooted in southern Spanish culture while boldly reshaping it for the present. Their work often centres on folklore, language and identity, using Andalusian dialect and symbolism to challenge stereotypes and reclaim regional heritage with urgency and pride.
Their releases, including Puerta de la Cânne (2019), La Contraçeña (2021) and Gachxma (2023), showcase an evolving approach that moves fluidly between reverence and reinvention. Across recordings and powerful live performances, Califato 3/4 combine ritualistic rhythms, electronic textures and communal energy to striking effect. By treating tradition as something living rather than fixed, they have established themselves as one of Spain’s most innovative and culturally resonant musical projects.
