Blaze Bayley is a British heavy metal singer and songwriter, born in Birmingham on Sunday 29 May 1963, and widely celebrated as one of the most dedicated and distinctive voices in the genre. He began his professional career in 1984 as the frontman of Wolfsbane before stepping onto the global stage in 1994 when he joined Iron Maiden. During his five years with the band, he recorded the albums The X Factor and Virtual XI and toured the world, earning international recognition for his powerful vocals and commanding stage presence. After leaving Iron Maiden in 1999, Blaze launched a prolific solo career defined by artistic independence, intensity and unwavering connection to his fans. Over the decades he has released fourteen full-length studio albums, along with numerous live records, DVDs and compilations, cementing his status as a cornerstone of modern British metal.
Known as one of the hardest-working artists on the scene, Blaze has toured extensively across the UK, Europe, North America and Latin America, building a reputation for no-nonsense, high-energy live performances and a rare, genuine rapport with audiences. Since 2014, he has performed with a settled and highly skilled backing band drawn from British melodic metal group Absolva — Christopher Appleton (lead guitar), Luke Appleton (power guitar), Martin McNee (drums) and Karl Schramm (bass). In 2024, Blaze releases his latest studio album Circle of Stone and embarks on a major tour to celebrate both the new record and the 30th anniversary of his time with Iron Maiden. With decades of commitment, creativity and undeniable presence, Blaze Bayley remains a true metal icon.
