Balaam and The Angel are a British rock band known for their gothic-tinged alternative rock sound, blending elements of post-punk, hard rock, and new wave. Formed in Cannock, England, in the early 1980s by brothers Mark, James, and Des Morris, the band quickly gained attention with their atmospheric and anthemic style, reminiscent of acts like The Cult and The Mission.

Initially self-releasing their music, Balaam and The Angel built a dedicated following before signing to Virgin Records. Their 1986 debut album, The Greatest Story Ever Told, showcased their melodic yet darkly dramatic sound, earning them critical acclaim and a growing fanbase.
