Alexis Taylor is an English singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist best known as the distinctive voice and creative force behind the acclaimed electronic band Hot Chip. Born in London, he blends electronic pop, art-ful experimentation and heartfelt songwriting in both his solo work and his band’s music, crafting songs that feel introspective yet instantly memorable. With a knack for melding emotional depth with dancefloor sensibilities, Taylor’s work spans gently reflective ballads to effervescent electronic grooves, showcasing his wide musical range and lyrical sensitivity.
Alongside Hot Chip’s celebrated albums including The Warning (2006), Made in the Dark (2008) and A Bath Full of Ecstasy (2019), Taylor has pursued solo projects that reveal a more intimate side to his artistry. His solo releases, such as Rubbed Out (2008), Await Barbarians (2016) and Beautiful Thing (2018), explore folk, lo-fi and experimental flavours while maintaining his unmistakable melodic touch. Beyond the studio, Taylor’s collaborations and live performances reflect his curiosity and versatility, earning him respect as both an inventive solo creator and a key voice in contemporary electronic music.
