Air Traffic are a British indie rock band from Bournemouth, known for piano-led melodies, soaring vocals and anthemic guitar hooks. Formed in 2003 by singer and pianist Chris Wall with drummer David Ryan Jordan and guitarist Tom Pritchard, and later completed by bassist Jim Maddock, they signed to EMI and built an early reputation on a run of well-received singles. The NME once described their sound as "Supergrass covering Little Richard" — a fitting nod to the energy and melody at the heart of their music.
In 2007 they released their debut album, Fractured Life, backed by the singles "Charlotte", "Shooting Star" and fan favourite "No More Running Away". Along the way they supported Snow Patrol on their UK arena tour, performed on Later... with Jools Holland and earned a place on the BBC's Sound of 2007 list. Fractured Life remains the record that introduced Air Traffic, and its blend of piano-driven hooks and big, heartfelt choruses is exactly what still draws audiences to their live shows.
