About Windmill Community Gardens:
We are a Community Gardens, aiming to help local people grow crops together in a spirit of community and in as eco-friendly a way as possible. We welcome people of all ethnic origins and all abilities. We're a Garden of Sanctuary, LBTQ+ friendly and support those on the autistic spectrum. We have 3 open volunteer sessions a week, a weekly session for those with more anxiety based issues, school and interest group sessions and special sessions at the weekends covering growing, wellness, craft and other workshops as well as seasonal events that celebrate the garden and its environment. We're particularly keen to help people turn what they grow into delicious healthy food, and run a cook and eat session on a Thursday as well as a woodwork session on a Thursday afternoon. Although in a less deprived area, we're in-between a number of areas of high deprivation and have volunteers and visitors from these areas. We function on a donation-based system to ensure those on low incomes are able to take part in our activities.
