The Waterboys

Catch the indie icons in Glasgow this summer

Folk-rock group The Waterboys shaped the sound of indie in the 80s, releasing such huge anthems as the platinum-selling single "The Whole of the Moon", "Fisherman's Blues" plus "And a Bang on the Ear". The group broke up in 1993 and reformed seven years later, releasing a further nine albums including their latest title All Souls Hill.

The Waterboys will play a headline set at In The Big Top Tent on Friday 28th June 2024. They are joined by very special guests Admiral Farrow.

The Charlatans

See the Madchester veterans play In A Big Top Tent

The Charlatans grew out of the baggy Madchester scene to become a leading light in Britpop. Led by the charming Tim Burgess, the band produced four hits that broke the Top 10, including "North Country Boy", "How High", "The Only One I Know" and "One to Another".

Join The Charlatans for In A Big Top Tent at Queen's Park Recreation Ground on Sunday 30th June 2024. They will play hits from right across their career, supported by independent Scottish singer-songwriter Callum Beattie.

Gabrielle

The R&B star appears at Summer Nights At The Bandstand

Gabrielle (AKA Louisa Gabriella Bobb) shot to fame with her huge debut single “Dreams”. It was the start of the R&B and soul star’s career which saw her winning Best British Breakthrough at the 1994 BRIT Awards and releasing the 4x platinum album Rise. Her Top 10 song "Out of Reach" was featured in the soundtrack to Bridget Jones's Diary.

Gabrielle has been announced as a headliner for the exciting Summer Nights At The Bandstand in Glasgow. The series of live music events at Kelvingrove Bandstand returns to the Scottish city for its ninth year and features the very best in rock and pop.

The Midnight

The L.A. synth-pop sensations head to Glasgow this summer

Californian synth-wave greats The Midnight formed in 2012 and includes singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle and Danish-born producer Tim McEwan. The retro-futurist pairing announced their arrival with the singles "WeMoveForward" and "Gloria". Their debut LP Endless Summer dropped in 2017 which was followed a year later by Nocturnal which was a Bandcamp bestseller and reached number 17 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic charts.

Johnny Marr

See the iconic guitarist and songwriter at Summer Nights At The Bandstand

Johnny Marr rose to fame as the guitarist and songwriter of the iconic indie band The Smiths. Together with Steven Morrissey, the pair penned such defining songs as "This Charming Man", "How Soon Is Now?", "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" and "What Difference Does It Make?" before splitting acrimoniously in 1987.

His subsequent solo career has seen the release of four Top 10 albums including his latest title Fever Dreams Pts 1–4. And now, Marr will appear at Summer Nights At The Bandstand.

Bill Bailey

Get tickets for the marvellously musical comedian

Comedian and musician Bill Bailey appeared in the sitcom Black Books and was a regular on the hit TV shows Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Have I Got News for You, and QI. His wonderful eccentric comedy includes live musical performances and he was voted the seventh greatest stand-up comic on Channel 4's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups.

Emeli Sande

The star singer follows the release of her latest album How Were We to Know with huge Glasgow show

Sunderland-born R&S, soul and gospel singer Emeli Sande has been announced as a headliner for Summer Nights At The Bandstand on Saturday 27th July 2024. She is best known for the songs “Heaven” and "Beneath Your Beautiful". She also teamed up with Professor Green on the song "Read All About It".

Sande performed at both the opening and closing of the 2012 London Olympics. She won Best British Female Solo Artist, and British Album of the Year for her debut album Our Version of Events the following year.

Future Islands

The feel-good synth-pop are heading to Glasgow

Baltimore synth-pop band Future Islands continue to rise. Their 2014 single "Seasons (Waiting on You)" was named best song of the year by NME and Pitchfork. This year has seen the release of their seventh studio album People Who Aren't There Anymore which broke the Top 10 upon release in January.

Ocean Colour Scene

The indie greats summer tour includes a headline show in Glasgow

Drawing on mod influences, Ocean Colour Scene became stars of the retro-inspired Britpop movement. Their gold-selling single "The Riverboat Song" became the guest intro music on anarchic Channel 4 programme TFI Friday and further songs "The Day We Caught the Train", "The Circle" and "Hundred Mile High City" were defining anthems of the 90s.

Ocean Colour Scene have announced an unmissable headline set taking place at Kelvingrove Bandstand, Glasgow on Wednesday 31st July 2024.

Squeeze

See the acclaimed new-wave band this summer with Gigantic

Pop-rock band Squeeze rose in the 70s to become leaders of new-wave and were best known for their songs "Cool for Cats", "Up the Junction", and "Labelled with Love". They also had hits with "Tempted", "Black Coffee in Bed", and "Hourglass" in the US as part of the Second British Invasion.

Squeeze have now been announced as Summer Nights At The Bandstand headliners. They will also appear at Let's Rock Shrewsbury.

The Teskey Brothers

The award-winning group head to Glasgow this summer

Australian blues-rock band The Teskey Brothers are led by siblings Josh Teskey (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Sam Teskey (lead guitar). The decorated group won Best Group at the 2019 ARIA Music Awards plus Best Blues and Roots Album and Engineer of the Year for their Run Home Slow record.

The singer-songwriter is renowned for their emotionally insightful lyrics and upbeat melodies

Australian folk-pop songwriter Ziggy Alberts hit No. 2 in his homelands charts with his 2x platinum 2018 album Laps Around the Sun. See one of the greatest Irish groups off all time

Irish rockers The Saw Doctors can boast three No. 1 singles in their home country, including "I Useta Lover” which remained in first place for nine consecutive weeks and holds the record for the country's all-time biggest-selling single. Further hits include "About You Now" and "Hay Wrap". They have also received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards.

The acclaimed band plays two nights at Glasgow

Liverpudlian band Echo & The Bunnymen are post-punk pioneers. Ian McCulloch and co. are best known for the songs “The Cutter” and "The Killing Moon". They play two nights at Kelvingrove Bandstand for Summer Nights At The Bandstand.

Bananarama  

The record-breaking band play Summer Nights At The Bandstand

Pop trio Bananarama formed in 1980 and originally included Sara Dallin, Siobhan Fahey, and Keren Woodward. The trio became one of the biggest acts of the decade, releasing the smash hit singles "It Ain't What You Do (It's the Way That You Do It)", "Really Saying Something", "Shy Boy", "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" and "Cruel Summer". These Top 10 hits all contributed to Bananarama entering the Guinness World Records for achieving the world's highest number of chart entries by an all-female group.
