The last decade has seen a huge wave of support for pop-punk power trio Waterparks! They have previously been awarded Best Breakthrough Artist at the 2017 Alternative Press Awards, as ever more fans are drawn in by their high energy and fresh sound which blends guitars with electronic pop.

This year sees the release of the Texan threesome’s next record Intellectual Property, and Waterparks have just announced an autumn U.K. tour – CLICK HERE for full listings and tickets with Gigantic!

Formed in 2011, the Houston-based band is made up of just three members: Awsten Knight (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Geoff Wigington (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Otto Wood (drums, backing vocals). Drawing heavily on pop punk, the trio gladly rip up the rule book and blur genres, incorporating elements of electronic pop and hip-hop, as heard on their records Double Dare (2016), Entertainment (2018), Fandom (2019), Greatest Hits (2021) and Intellectual Property (2023).

New album Intellectual Property is scheduled for realise on Friday 14th of April via Fueled By Ramen. It sees Waterparks team up with none other than Good Charlotte on the ambitious song “SELF-SABOTAGE” which goes deep on emotion, and includes the intense single “REAL SUPER DARK” and anthemic track “BRAINWASHED”.

Intellectual Property features a frog on the cover to signify Knight’s struggles with the lasting effects of religious guilt, a theme that is tightly wound throughout the upcoming record. Knight elaborated further in a recent interview with Alternative Press;

Frogs have always been one of my favorite animals. However, when I learned that frogs were seen as dirty and unclean in a biblical context, it was interesting to me that something that I saw as so good, natural and beautiful could also be seen as a bad thing through a biblical lens. Growing up in church, you’re taught that everything is so wrong and bad. I always felt like shit, so [this album] is the breakaway from that specifically.

Waterparks will be playing U.K. shows in October and November in support of Intellectual Property. Tickets will be released at 09:00 on Thursday with Gigantic – CLICK HERE to set your event reminder!
