NERINA PALLOT – ‘Oh Berlin’
Currently working on her yet as untitled seventh album, Ivor Novello Award nominated songwriter Nerina Pallot now released lead single ‘Oh Berlin’ that hints at a gentle grace which may characterise the whole record.
“Work on my seventh album is progressing, and I am both excited and relieved to tell you that you can now hear a song from it, ‘Oh Berlin’. I hope you like it. If you listen to the song expecting references to famous landmarks of the German capital like Alexanderplatz, or Checkpoint Charlie, or the Brandenburg Gate, you will be disappointed. I apologise. Berlin is a feeling, my friends, it’s a state of mind. It is also very cold in winter. But very hot in summer. I really like weather.
I hope you are all doing okay. More new music is coming your way over the course of the year - and I am hopeful that I will be able to get into the studio with lots of musicians soon to continue the adventure.”

JESSIE WARE – ‘What’s Your Pleasure?’
‘What’s Your Pleasure?’ is the fourth album from Mercury nominee Jessie Ware which takes a sleek and sophisticated disco direction that glistens with flawless pop perfection. It’s taken two years to create and includes an impressive roster of collaborators, including Shungudzo Kuyimba, Kindness, Clarence Coffee Jr. and Metronomy‘s Matthew Tavares also from Badbadnotgood.
Disco has always been about decadence and escape into the sublime, themes that Ware continues on her latest record but definitely in the context of current affairs which, since the pandemic, have taken on additional resonance.
“It’s funny, songs have taken on a new meaning. We wrote “Save a Kiss” more than a year ago, but it feels quite poignant. Save a kiss for me tonight, save the thought for me tonight -- we want to be with our loved ones, but we’re in lockdown. My mum isn’t able to touch my children, they want to give her cuddles.
Weirdly, we wrote the last song on the record, “Remember Where You Are,” when Boris had just gotten back into power and Trump, I think, was in London at the time. It’s supposed to be about, like, everything’s gone to shit, but remember what’s important -- that feels really poignant now, too.”
