JULIA JACKLIN – ‘Pressure To Party’
Ever felt like everything is just a bit too much? That’s certainly the question being asked by Sydney-born songwriter Julia Jacklin who is contending with everyone else’s expectations plus her own emotional baggage following a break up on ‘Pressure To Party’.
“When you come out of a relationship, there’s so much pressure to act a certain way. First, it’s like, ‘Oh, you’ve gotta take some time for yourself…’ but then if you take too much time it’s, ‘You’ve gotta get back out there!’ That song is just my three-minute scream, saying I’m going to do what I need to do, when I need to do it.”
Jacklin releases her second full length record ‘Crushing’ on Friday 22nd of February through Poylvinyl. The LP was recorded with the assistance of producer Burke Reid (The Drones, DZ Deathrays Courtney Barnett) at The Grove Studios. It includes ‘Pressure To Party’ and is already a possible contender for Album Of The Year.
“I really like this album. I worked hard on it and I really like listening to it. That’s not usually how I feel after making something. I’ve finally come to accept that right now for me, making records is about capturing a time; who I am at that time, what I need to say in the best way I can say it, with minimal studio frills to cover it up. So, I’m really happy to announce this one and ready for whatever things get thrown my way because of it.”

TINY RUINS – ‘Holograms’
First formed in 2009 by songwriter, singer and guitarist Hollie Fullbrook, Tiny Ruins are the imaginative psyche inspired band from New Zealand which includes the talents of Alex Freer (drums), Tom Healy (guitar) and Cass Basil (bass).
Their international following has been building with the release of previous singles ‘School of Design’, ‘Olympic Girls’ and ‘How Much’ which exhibit Fullbrook’s penchant for a light touchand sparse style which give her songs an ethereal air.
On their new single ‘Holograms’, they explore the possibility of a future in which we are so fundamentally infused with technology we will reach a new stage in post-human evolution at which not only will we be immortal, but we may even be able to reclaim our ancestors from the death and speak with them once again.
“Holograms is a conversation in a way, where one person posits the idea that technology will increasingly connect us. That we will not just be emotionally or mentally connected, but that our bodies will transcend physical and mortal bounds via technology. That we can bring someone back.”

ADAM FRENCH – ‘The Only Living Thing’
Critics were quick to notice the unique sound of Cheshire-born multi-instrumentalist Adam French following the release of two awesome EP’s leading CLASH to describe his emotive music as “Devastating, enthralling”.
French continues to rise with the release of his melodic and sincere new single ‘The Only Living Thing’. The track is accompanied with a quizzical video starring actor Charley Palmer Rothwell (Dunkirk, Darkest Hour) which accurate portrays the pain of heartbreak
"The track is about realisation, that everything you previously had was all that you ever needed and more. Two people sharing the same pain, coming to terms with the fact that they might need to look backwards in order to move forwards. Love is an interesting beast. I've always been fond of videos that tell love stories in interesting ways, but this one's different for so many reasons. I'm sure a lot of people can relate to longing for companionship."
‘The Only Living Thing’ will appear on Adam French’s forthcoming debut album ‘The BackFoot And The Rapture’ which promises to be a truly engrossing listen. It also features his previous single ‘Wanna Be Here’ which has already amassed and incredible 90,000 views. French heads out on tour in promotion of ‘The BackFoot And The Rapture’ in March.

WATSKY – ‘Complaint’
San Franciscan alt hip hop star Watsky releases his new album ‘Complaint’ which exhibits all the usual deft lyrical acrobats you would expect from the whimsical wordsmith and intriguing production, sure to appeal to his cult following.
On this, his fifth album, the Californian rapper has decided to face his demons and bring them to light, with his negative experiences explored on the singles ‘Mean Ass Drunk’, ‘All Like Whatever’ and ‘Welcome to the Family’.
“Diplomacy is not always nice because it’s not always honest. And I’m trying to tap into the shadow side of myself that doesn’t necessarily make you a bad person but is just that other side of being a full person. I was writing a lot about relationship stuff with this project. I was in a really intense relationship, and it was really hard. I felt like it was important for me to share that with people.”
