Self Esteem – Prioritise Pleasure
When Rebecca Lucy Taylor first walked away from indie folk pairing Slow Club, there was a sense of trepidation and a need to prove herself to a world that had previously not recognised her talent and songwriting skills. Reinventing herself as R&B infused alt popstar Self Esteem; Rebecca was able to not only find her own voice but speak for the many women who identified with the everyday struggles and found strength in the passionate songs as heard on debut album Compliments Please, released in 2019.

Now, having established herself as one of the most compelling and exciting British artists, she now releases second album Prioritise Pleasure which continues her galvanised ascent with an unapologetic declaration of self as heard across thirteen joyous new tracks, including singles “I Do This All The Time”, “How Can I Help You”, “Moody” and title track “Prioritise Pleasure.
“I said what I needed to with Compliments Please, but only just… and Compliments Please was 14 tracks but it could've been 20. I was like, let's just keep going, and the same's happened. But I think it's because I've been a musician since I was 16/17, full-time doing it, and I had so many ideas I couldn't do. So many things I wanted to do, I've just parked, and I think I thought they were gone, but they weren't. So, it feels like I'm extremely realised and it's all well thought out and unbelievably worked on, but it's just like the overflow car park's been opened.”
