This announcement solidifies Horsegirl's growing reputation as one of the freshest rising voices in alternative rock.

Phonetics On & On - Album Details

2022 saw Horsegirl release their debut album, Versions of Modern Performance, which was celebrated for its hazy, atmospheric sound, with critics such as Pitchfork noting that it "glows with the drowsy heat of 30 years’ worth of indie rock". 

Three years later, Horsegirl have honed in on their trademark alternative-rock-meets-shoegaze sound, with their sophomore and most recent album, Phonetics On & On. Similarly to their debut, the band delve into their influences of 90s alt-rock such as Yo La Tengo and Sonic Youth, whilst keeping their own distinctively Horsegirl sound. This sonic palette has made way for a body of work which hums with droning, swirling guitars and rich lyrical content. 

This melting pot of genres, from shoegaze to indie, noise-rock to post-punk and beyond, has meant that Horsegirl have been able to carve out their own niche. Their ability to marry their 90s musical influences with their own Gen-Z experiences means that they have resonated well with their now-rapidly expanding fanbase. 

Intimate Clubs and Beyond

The past three years have seen Horsegirl grow from underground darlings to a big name in the alt-rock scene. 

The band's first wave of shows on UK soil in 2023 saw them play at London's Phonox, a 450-capacity nightclub-turned-venue. Fast forward to 2026, where they are pencilled in to perform at venues double this capacity, proof of their steady ascent. 

Horsegirl have some notable collaborations, such as with Welsh singer Cate Le Bon helping to produce Phonetics On & On, who incorporated violins and synths and added an experimental arrow to Horsegirl's bow.

Horsegirl will hit the road this summer: 

• Friday 21st August 2026: Islington Assembly Hall, London
• Tuesday 25th August 2026:  Arts Club Liverpool, Liverpool
• Wednesday 26th August 2026: Chalk, Brighton

Support on the tour comes from From 2, a folk quintet from Amsterdam.
