This week, STAR (The Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers) starts its UK wide SAFE TICKET BUYING CAMPAIGN to raise awareness of ticket fraud and the importance of purchasing through official channels and reliable vendors only.

Beginning on Monday 10th of June, STAR aim to make you aware of how to purchase tickets safely to prevent the misery caused by ticket scamming. STAR explains further:

Our principal aim is to help educate ticket buyers about taking care when buying tickets to help protect themselves from fraud. We are partnering with Action Fraud on this as they are the central fraud reporting agency and collate statistics on reports of fraud. A key piece of their advice is for customers to check whether they are buying from a member of STAR and we are very grateful for this high level of support from law enforcement. The campaign also has the support of Margot James MP, Minister for Digital and is also being supported by government departments, DCMS and BEIS, as well as other consumer protection partners.

Let’s take a look at some top tips to make sure you are always protected from the ticket scammers:

  • Check the seller is approved by STAR (The Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers): Gigantic works closely with STAR to ensure that customers get the best service, free from worry.
  • Only buy from a company which makes its contact details clear: customers can contact Gigantic’s customer service over the phone and by email.
  • A reputable ticket seller will never require you to pay by bank transfer for your tickets.
  • Check that the website has a secure way of paying with encryption: when you are filling in the payment details and the web address at the top of the page should change to one beginning https://
  • Always read the Terms and Conditions before making your purchase: reputable ticket sellers will make their terms and conditions easily accessible and abundantly clear. Reputable businesses will always comply with the law and industry standards.
