Mulatu Astatke, The Jazz Cafe, London - 5th April 2017
Melting Pot of Polyrhythms and Genre Spanning Melodies. A highly talented, emphatic ensemble of musicians, all verging on virtuosic mastery of their respective instruments. A selection of compositions which went from happy to sad, from lively to melancholic, from party to pooper, from introspective to extroverted. Mulatu has an ability, rarely found within musicians which allows him to reflect on the many contrary states of the soul. A true gem. My girlfriend is sub 5ft 6 and would like to complain about seeing the back of peoples heads. I can't vouch for this.
