Alison's Halo are the cult Arizona four-piece whose dreamy, gloriously noisy guitars made them one of America's best-loved shoegaze acts of the 1990s.
Formed in Tempe, Arizona in 1992 by Catherine Cooper (vocals and guitar), Adam Cooper (guitar), David Rogers (bass and vocals) and Roger Brogan (drums and percussion), Alison's Halo quickly became a fixture of the local scene. Their blend of chiming, reverb-soaked guitars and Catherine's soaring melodies marked them out early, earning support slots alongside touring favourites such as The Verve, Curve and The Boo Radleys, plus appearances at festivals including South by Southwest and CMJ Music Marathon.
The band's debut single, "Dozen", arrived on the respected Independent Project Records in 1995, winning warm national reviews and plenty of college radio play. Their full-length collection Eyedazzler, drawn from recordings made between 1992 and 1996, followed on Detroit's Burnt Hair Records in 1998. Quietly cherished for years, it has since been celebrated as one of the finest American shoegaze and dream-pop records of its era, with a remastered reissue arriving in 2017 as part of the acclaimed Shoegaze Archives series. For lovers of Lush, Slowdive and Cocteau Twins, they remain essential listening.
